The Score

Project Overview

This watch application was to not essentially redesign but further accentuating the app and creating an additional feature that would help get an edge and a competitive product in the market. This also was an application that we had to code for.

TheScore

A sports live update application and addition of a betting feature into our application

Problem

To work on an application adding additional feature to make it a better version of what it was. We planned to add 'Sports betting' feature to an already existing flow.

Tools

Effortless Betting on the Go

The screen lets users select a team, set their stake, and view estimated returns. They can place individual or pooled bets, boosting engagement during live sports events.

Your Bet Confirmed

This screen confirms the user's bet details, including the stake and selected team, while displaying the remaining spending limit and offering quick access to game updates or current bets.

Instant Control Over Your Bets

This screen allows users to view their current bets and cash out instantly, providing real-time updates and control over their active wagers.

Join the Betting Pool

This screen displays a pool betting invitation where users can review the money line pick, set their stake, and accept the invite to join the pool, a group bet where participants combine their stakes, and winnings

Definition and Ideation

Categorizing user's insights into different sections helped us pinpoint the exactly flow of how we wanted to feature the new flow.

Insights and Needs

  • People wanted to have a good time with friends and most of them wanted to bet for the fun while some wanted to test knowledge for the game.

  • Betting can be addictive so we have thought of taking that into consideration when making that feature.

  • That led us to creating our persona for our ideal user.

User Research

We used the I like, I wish and what if method to narrow down on features and flow that we will be working on for our watch application. Here were some key findings from our user interviews:

People who are new to betting wish for an information section to explain betting terms and odds.
Users wish for tools to encourage responsible gambling, such as spending or time limit
What if there was a daily spending limit to help users stay within their budget?
Many enjoy the social aspect of betting, such as pooling bets with friends.

Work Flow

Wireframes

  • We created low fidelity wireframes for the watch application indicating buttons and text for us to understand how we were navigating the application.

High Fidelity

User Interview findings

Users highlighted the need for responsible betting tools (19%), social features for collaborative betting (25%), and personalized options (30%) to enhance engagement, safety, and user-centricity in the platform.

Final Thoughts

  • I tried to successfully code an application and the interesting part of this is that I tried it on a different platform that is of a watch and it was fun exploring. The challenge was to make sure that I was able to make sure it was accessible with the limited screen space there is.
